The Reds will hope to get back to winning ways in the Premier League as they host Sean Dyche's Nottingham Forest side. This is who could line up at Anfield on Saturday...

Between the sticks

Alisson Becker

Despite the steady improvement in Mamardashvili's form, it is likely that Alisson will be back in goal against Forest.

Arne Slot confirmed the availability of the Brazilian before Liverpool's trip to the Etihad, stating that he would "for sure" be fit to start after the international break.

If the No. 1 does start on Saturday, it will be his first taste of football since the end of September, putting an end to seven weeks on the sidelines.

The back four

Andrew Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez

A last-minute injury for Conor Bradley means that Slot cannot pick the same defence that secured back-to-back clean sheets before getting thumped by Manchester City.

With the Northern Irishman absent, we will probably see Gomez fill in at full-back, although Calvin Ramsay also has an outside chance of making the starting eleven after making the most of his chance in the league cup. The lack of cover at centre-half provides Slot with little choice but to opt for a Van Dijk/Konate partnership for the 16th time this season.

It would come as a surprise if Robertson did not reprise his role at left-back, given his good run of form. He'll still be running off the high of captaining Scotland to their first World Cup in 27 years!

The middle of the park

Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai

Slot has deployed the title-winning midfield for three consecutive matches, and he is unlikely to switch it up this weekend.

Gravenberch and Szoboszlai are guaranteed starters and, as shown in the victory against Real Madrid, Liverpool are a much better team when Mac Allister clicks into gear.

Whether this cemented midfield pushes Wirtz onto the left-hand side of attack or onto the bench remains to be seen...

Up top

Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike and Mohamed Salah

Slot will be forced to tinker with the front-line now that Wirtz is set to spend time on the sidelines.

The injury comes at an unfortunate time, with the German looking much more comfortable on the left-wing, the position that he made his own at Leverkusen.

But Slot will have no problem turning to Gakpo, having picked the Dutchman in the joint-most matches in the squad this season. Additionally, he is arguably better suited to the kind of scrappy and physical test that is likely to play out against Forest.

The rest of the front line belongs to Ekitike and Salah, given Isak's slow return from injury and Slot's lack of faith in Chiesa.

Let's see if the Reds can start finally firing on all cylinders!
